Pricing and Accounting Improvements

On January 2nd, 2023, we will be releasing two improvements to the Pricing and Accounting processing within Komet’s Core System. These changes will ensure precision and accuracy in sales, accounting, and accounts receivable records and ensure that your prices and margins are never reduced by system rounding calculations.

Below you will find details of these improvements and how your company, users, and customers may be affected. As always Customer Support is here to help with any questions you may have.

Improvements:

1. Selling prices limited to two decimal places.

Why are we making this change?

Maintaining three or more decimal places at the selling price level does in some cases create penny discrepancies in various Accounts Receivable records and small differences between A/R total sales records and product total sales records. This change will prevent those differences.

How will this affect your users?

Users will no longer be able to enter more than two decimal places when entering a selling price.

2. Rounding Up replaced Conventional Rounding when the system calculates
suggested selling prices.

What is “Rounding Up” Rounding?

Any third decimal will be rounded up to the next penny. (For example: $0.321 would be rounded up to $0.33).

Why are we making this change?

Conventional Rounding can lower the selling price. Rounding Up guards prices and margins. (See examples below)

How will this affect system calculated prices?

Notice the difference the Conventional Rounding Unit Price (shown in red) vs the Round Up Rounding Unit Price in these two pricing scenarios:

How will this affect your customers?

Beginning on January 2, 2023, Customers with Prebook and Standing Orders prices entered prior to January 2, 2023, may see a small change in the invoice price they receive depending upon the price entered on the PB or SO.

Any price with more than two decimal places will in some cases round up to the next penny instead of rounding down.

Examples:

If you wish to avoid this result you will need to adjust prices to two decimal places in Standing Orders, and any Prebook orders with ship dates on or after January 2, 2023. If requested, Komet can provide you with a list of any standing orders that would be affected.
